High in the Andean mountains at between three to four thousand meters grows the Peruvian Ginseng known as Maca. Maca is an important staple in the diet of the indigenous people of Peru, due to its high nutritional content. Because of the incredibly high mineral content and the high altitudes, maca is traditionally grown without pesticides, fungicides, and chemicals.
